Success By 6/ Born Learning

Families and others who care for young children understand that the early years are important. Yet many aren't sure what they can do to encourage early learning. And many communities want to support early learning but aren't sure how best to do that.

We are taking an active part in the nation-wide Success By 6 initiative launched by United Way of America. For Parents: We’ve developed a Parent Toolkit that is available free of charge.

The Toolkit utilizes materials developed by the experts at Born Learning and includes a locally produced DVD that offers practical, real life tips for parents. See the Order Form on the Success By 6 Page for more information.

For the Community: Book Banks, stocked with children’s books, are available in 10 locations around Salem County. The Wood Shop students at Ranch Hope, Inc. built the bookcases that are now full of donated books.

Parents and children can read a book or books as they wait in a doctor’s office, for example. And families are encouraged to take a book(s) home to enjoy reading again and again. Reading aloud to children is the best way to help them learn to read and to develop languages skills they will need in school.

The cards are being distributed free of charge nationwide by participating United Way agencies, community and faith-based organizations, county agencies, doctors, businesses, some pharmacies, and individuals like you. The discounts and savings are provided voluntarily by the more than 53,000 participating pharmacies that have agreed to accept this card. Please remember to thank them for their participation and the difference they are making for you, your family and for your community when you fill your prescription.
