DAY OF CARING!

2008 - DAYS OF CARING
August & September

In the past the Day of Caring projects were designed to mobilize volunteers to participate in various project with many different agencies over a two week period in September. This years program is going to be different. This year we are looking to mobilize the caring power of the community to gather food and personal items to stock pantries.

The reasoning? With oil soaring to over $135 dollars a barrel, gasoline prices at or over $4.00 a gallon we are seeing trends that concerns us for this upcoming winter. It is not just the cost of these things but the effect that it is having on all consumer goods.

We are partnering with the following pantries to make sure that no matter were people live they will have accept to these materials.

  • Salvation Army

  • PRAC: Puerto Rican Action Committee

  • Catholic Charities

  • Pennsville Visiting Nurse

  • Peter’s Pantry

  • Disciple's Pantry: Housed at Asbury Methodist Church

By having a county-wide drive to collect food, household and personal items for this years Day of Caring project we hope to collect enough supplies so that the pantries (listed above) can provide these materials to our high risk families during this winter.
